Dear Members,
As you know the month of May is Small
Business Month, which celebrates the work and
success of the small business community, which
makes up of the majority of our membership. This
Chamber values the efforts and dedication of our
small business community and their support of
the Chamber.
We constantly hold seminars that are tailored
to the small business owner/manager and support
organizations like the Small Business
Administration (which has an office in the
Chamber for the next 2 months, processing
disaster loans from Hurricane Wilma) and SCORE,
which meets here every Wednesday to give advice
to businesses on how to improve or start your
business.
Last Friday we
had our Small Business Awards program here at the Chamber, which was sponsored
by Bank United, where we recognized 5 out of 15 companies for their leadership
and success in business and their support of the Chamber. Those companies were
Boardroom Communications, Equilibrix, Meineke Car Care Center, S.Mark Graphics,
and the Fischer Group. Congratulations to them and all of the nominees for their
success and thanks to Mel DiPietro and his Small Business Committee for their
support and hard work in putting the program together.
In fact next
Thursday, May 25 the Chamber and the Council of Chambers will be hosting the
Broward County Small Business Person of the Year luncheon, where we will be
recognizing Boardroom Communications as our top Small Business of the Year. For
more details or to make reservations
Building Broward
Business. Thank you for your support.
PS - I just want
to remind our members that the Hurricane
Preparedness Sales Tax holiday is coming up 5/21
thru 6/1 - here is a tip sheet that explains it

Super
Bowl XLI Procurement Process
Super Bowl XLI will be held in Miami on February 4,
2007. It is the policy of the National Football
League (NFL) that minority and women-owned businesses
have the maximum opportunity to participate in the Super
Bowl procurement process. The South Florida Super
Bowl XLI Emerging Business Program is designed to ensure
local minority and women owned businesses are provided
with access to these procurement opportunities.
While participation in the program does not guarantee
receipt of Super Bowl XLI related contracts, it is the
intention of the host committee that interested minority
and women owned businesses receive an education in the
large event procurement process, an introduction to
potential partners and exposure to other procurement
opportunities.
