MJUG Presents No More Hops!

Join us on Tuesday, November 20th from 6.30 to 10 pm for the next MJUG meeting. We will be meeting at the Carnival Cruise Lines Headquarters in Doral. Owen Taylor and James Ward are the speakers for this month's event. At the meeting, you will learn how to leverage the simplicity and consistency of Spring and achieve the scalability of Google. You will also understand the programming paradigm known as SBA and Discover what the power of Transparent Partitioning and Colocation can do for applications ranging from Logistics to Order Processing to Algorithmic Trading. GCUG Presents It's All About the Data
Join us on Thursday, January 10th, 2008 in Boca Raton for an It's all about the Data presentation by David Cobb. Our Data expert, Dave, takes a look at the new Data paradigms introduced with the .Net Framework 3.5. This new paradigm is centered around the use of the .Net Language INtegrated Query or LINQ. LINQ defines a set of general purpose standard query operators that allow traversal, filter, and projection operations to be expressed in a direct yet declarative way in any .NET-based programming language. It opens up a whole world of programming for data manipulation. The event will be followed by a raffle of Visual Studio and SQL Server.

Yet Another Use for Your iPod
We all need some sort of alarm to claw ourselves from the depths of sleep, but for many of us an incessant digital beep is not the sound of choice. In steps the iPod Alarm Clock to save the day. Now you can easily set your alarm to wake you with whatever your favourite song of the moment is. The Alarm Clock has an all important nine minute 'Snooze' function, and is adjustable so that it will fit more or less the whole family of iPods. It looks like a funked up traditional alarm clock. Wake up to something more tuneful than a bell or a beep, and considerably less depressing than the news. |

Spherion to pay $140 million for Technisource
Spherion Corp. struck a deal to buy Technisource Inc., a Little Rock AR-based information technology staffing and solutions company. Spherion will pay $140 million, including $120 million in cash and a $20 million note. The news comes less than two months after Spherion said it was buying Today's Staffing from CDI Corp.
ClearPoint Swings to Loss
ClearPoint, a company which provides staffing and VMS services, posted a third-quarter loss of $158,204. The company said it was in the midst of changing to a franchising business from an owner/operator of staffing branches. Also, ClearPoint said it completed its integration of Advantage Services Group, a Florida-based staffing company it acquired in February. |
