Challenges for Independent Publishing Houses
Based on interviews with some 300 Spaniard bookstores across the country, the study found that difficulty in gaining access to a good distribution channel and to stable mid-to-long-term financing are two of the obstacles to launching an independent publishing label. According to the booksellers, the smaller publishers’ biggest contribution is discovering new authors.
