Cosecha
de mujeres
(Women
harvest: a Mexican safari)
Diana Washington Valdez
One
of the most serious criminal episodes in the history of Mexico is the
murder of more than four hundred women in Ciudad Juarez over the last
decade: a truly bloody harvest of women. The victims are workers,
immigrants, usually newcomers with low social and economic conditions.
They’re sexually assaulted, mutilated, and murdered. Their
bodies turn up days, weeks, or even months after reported missing. It
seems that nobody cares about them.

Catherine
Zeta-Jones
Actress
If
there’s such a thing as royalty in Hollywood, Catherine
Zeta-Jones could very well be the queen. Married to Michael Douglas
– part of the Douglas acting dynasty – the
Welsh-born film star has a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role
in Chicago and two children – Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta
– who are the fruit of a marriage that few thought would last
so long.
