Without Limits)
María Marín Making

Mario Benedetti
In 48 fragments of memory the
events that marked Claudio’s life are revealed. Through this
exercise in memory, Benedetti’s pen invites us to reflect on
key moments in a the life of a child, an adolescent, and an adult: the
grief over a mother’s death, the discovery of love, the first
sexual experiences, social awareness, in other words, the traces
left by the years and the people we love–traces that provide

“Welcome
Stranger: Public Libraries Build the Global Village”
In March 2007,
Urban Libraries Council (ULC) conducted a survey of its members,
gathering data on the ways in which urban public libraries are involved
with the transition of immigrants into American life. The findings of
the survey, augmented with data collected in another 2003 member
survey, are summarized in this report. They show that urban public
libraries are in the forefront of the effort to make their cities
stronger by welcoming and integrating new residents from all over the
world.

Tommy
Lee Jones
Actor
If
there’s such a thing as an unsociable Hollywood actor, it
would have to be Tommy Lee Jones. One of the most talented leading men
working today, Jones won an Oscar for his role in The Fugitive and is a
Best Actor nominee this year for his performance in In the Valley of
Elah. He also can boast of having lived across the hall from former
Vice President and Nobel Prize winner Al Gore while the two were
students at Harvard. Yet at the age of 61, this prominent actor and
director tends to stay out of the limelight, preferring to spend time
playing polo at his ranch in Texas and enjoying a good book.
