Lindo at the New York Public Library Spanish writers
Antonio Muñoz Molina and Elvira Lindo’ appearances
at The New York Public Library July 22, were a great success with a
dedicated public and the press. This is the first presentation in a
monthly series of literary evenings with award-winning Spanish authors
at the NYPL.
This free event
was conducted in Spanish with simultaneous English translation via
headset. The writers, who are husband and wife, are the first to appear
in a monthly series of Spanish-language literary programs featuring
celebrated authors from Spain.

DILVE (Spanish
Books in Print Information Distributor) has recently updated its Web
site with new content, including an interview with Gabriel Gili
(director of Editorial Gustavo Gili) in which he shares his experience
using the platform. The site also includes statements from other
publishers, distributors and booksellers who talk about the advantages
of using this public system.
DILVE is an
Internet-based technological platform for the management and
distribution of the bibliographical and marketing information of
Spanish books in print.

Marquez biography to be published in October
Gerard Martin's
English-language biography of Colombian Nobel literature laureate
Gabriel Garcia Marquez will be publilshed in October. The British
author said that "Gabo" collaborated with the biography that he began
15 years ago.
"He has been
fantastic, very, very civilized. He never helped me directly, he never
even wrote me a paper, nothing. But he talked and opened the doors to
his world for me," he said. "Even though he doesn't like the English,"
the biographer added.

Edwards novel wins 2008 Planeta-Casamérica Ibero-American
Fiction Prize
Chilean
author Jorge Edwards has won the 2008 Planeta-Casamérica
Ibero-American Fiction Prize for his novel “La casa
Dostoiesky” (Dostoevsky’s House).
The
book tells the story of a young writer identified as
“Poeta” (Poet) who lives life to the fullest amid
drinking and love affairs in post-World War II Santiago. Enamored with
Teresa, he follows her to Paris in the 1960s and the two throw
themselves into a secret love affair, all the while in constant danger
of being discovered.
