York Public Library and the Cervantes Institute are proud to present
the second program in the series “Spanish Authors in
America” with an exciting evening of discussion with the
prestigious Spaniard authors Enrique Vila-Matas and Cristina Grande.
The events will
take place, Tuesday, September 2nd at 6 pm at the Cervantes Institute
in New York and Wednesday, September 3rd, also at 6pm at the Bronx
Library Center in New York.

Editorial Planeta
and Casa America, with the aim of promoting Spanish-language narrative,
called the III Planeta-Casa America Ibero American Narrative Prize for
unpublished works written in Castilian.
The admission of
original closes on February 15, 2009.
The
winner will be awarded a prize of two hundred thousand U.S. dollars
($200,000). It has also been established a prize of fifty thousand U.S.
dollars ($50,000) to be given to a finalist.

Ibero-American
publishers analyzed the current reality and future potential of the
regional book market at the 7th Ibero-American Publishers’
Congress in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.
Spanish Culture
Minister César Antonio Molina attended the
gathering’s closing ceremony and was on hand the next day for
the opening of the Sao Paulo book fair. During his stay in
Brazil’s largest city, he also visited the Museum of the
Portuguese Language.

is known for its architecture, history and cuisine, but now
Peru’s capital wants to be known as the scenario where
several of the Mario Vargas Llosa’s literary works have
developed and where his characters have lived, loved and died. This new
initiative will guide the literary tourists throughout a route inspired
by the geography of the literary works by Mario Vargas Llosa.
The
idea, carried out by the state Promperu (Commission on the Promotion of
Peru for Export and Tourism) has allowed the publication of a guide
called "La Lima de Mario Vargas Llosa."
