Agreement between Nielsen BookScan and ARS
Nielsen BookScan, part of The Nielsen Company (US) LLC and, America Reads Spanish (ARS) have reached an agreement to publish a free, weekly list of the Spanish top seller titles in the US market in www.americareadsspanish.org

New "Essential Guide to Spanish Reading for Children and Young Adults" released
The new "Essential Guide to Spanish Reading for Children and Young Adults" will be officially unveiled May 28th, 6:00 pm at Instituto Cervantes in New York. The promoter of the Guide, America Reads Spanish (ARS) is a conjoint initiative of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds (FGEE) to promote the reading of Spanish in the US.

Cervantes Institute to teach Spanish to Starbucks workers
Spain's Cervantes Institute will teach Spanish to some 100,000 Starbucks workers throughout the United States. By virtue of an agreement signed Tuesday, those 100,000 workers will be able to learn Spanish via the Institute's online Virtual Spanish Classroom (Aula Virtual de Español), or AVE. The course will last one year and quarterly reports will be issued to evaluate how the students are progressing in learning the language, according to a press release on Tuesday by the Cervantes Institute.
 

Great success of Spain Publishing Houses in BookExpo America
BookExpo America (BEA) was a complete success for the 40 publishing houses from Spain. The U.S. book fair kicked off its 107th edition on May 28 in New York, and Spain had its own pavilion at the event where the 40 publishing houses showcased their wares and services. Spain’s agenda at the fair included a professional meeting of the Spanish firms participating in the BEA with a number of U.S. distributors, bookstores and librarians who have shown interest in becoming more familiar with the new titles the publishers have put out this year.
