What does my Financial Aid Package mean?
For most of you seniors the time has come to receive your financial aid packages! And for those of you who are juniors, this will give you a good preview for what to expect next year! So what do all those numbers mean?
First of all, realize that the Financial Aid Notification is an Award Letter, not a bill. The final amount listed on your letter is the Total Aid that you will receive. You'll notice that scholarships and grants are listed first, then Federal Work-Study (if you are eligible), and finally any federal student loans you qualify for. Any additional scholarships that you have received outside of Huntington need to be reported to the Financial Aid Office and they will be added to your award letter. At this point you'll want to put a check mark to the left of each scholarship, grant, and loan to accept or reject each award. Also notice on the top right of your sheet the Award Date and the Reply Date. Please return your award letter by that date. By signing your Financial Aid Notification you are simply acknowledging and agreeing to the aid that we have awarded you. This does not mean that you have committed to attend Huntington.
If you have any specific questions about your package please feel free to contact our Financial Aid Office at 1-800-642-6493 or Sharon Woods, Financial Aid Director, at swoods@huntington.edu.
