General Electric Invitation to Submit Artwork for
"PRIDE and PROGRESS"
A collection of reflective GLBTA (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender & Ally) artwork to celebrate PRIDE Month.

On behalf of the General Electric Company, we invite you to submit works for GE's 2nd Annual PRIDE Month Art Exhibition.  "PRIDE and PROGRESS" will be displayed in GE's Fairfield, CT corporate headquarters from June 18 - August 24, 2012.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to exhibit your artwork in GE's prominent Cultural Art Gallery and also on the firm's Cultural Online Gallery.  The works are available for sale.  This invitation is open to Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender and Ally Artists. To view past exhibitions visit our Online Galleries: http://www.picture-that.com/gegallery/yearinreview/2011.
    
  
THEME 
The theme of the images should show how the LGBT community has become out, included and made progress within regular society.  Submissions may portray the accomplishments, challenges, contributions and struggles of the LGBT as they fit naturally within the greater community.  The goal is to advance beyond the stereotypical imagery that is associated with LGBT pursuits, and reflect the actual lifestyles that are led by the community. The subject matter may also depict community and family life, festivals, parades, historical events, LGBT icons, etc.  Keywords include: rights, workplace quality (progress and gap), optimism, hope, don't ask don't tell, marriage equality, couples, everyday life, affection, friendship, social equality, stability.  Images may not illustrate violence, nudity or any other subject matter that may be deemed inappropriate for displaying in a corporate environment.      
 
 
SEARCH CRITERIA 
Desired Works:  We are searching for a variety of 2-dimensional works including paintings, watercolors, mixed media, collage, photographs, vintage posters and prints.  In addition, we welcome video art, installations and sculpture.  
 
 
 THE PROCESS
Submit the FOUR REQUIRED ITEMS no later than  May 18, 2012.  Final selections will be made by  May 31, 2012.  Works must be shipped/delivered to our Stamford, CT studio the week of June 11, 2012. Please take this timeline and location into consideration when evaluating whether this opportunity is a good fit.  Shortly after final selections are confirmed, we will communicate details on logistics, commission structure and drop-off procedures.    
 
  
FOUR REQUIRED ITEMS
(please read the directions carefully to ensure your submissions of the 4 required items are complete and accurate) 
 
  #1. Artist Bio/Statement including name, telephone# and web address.

#2.  Five digital jpg files of artwork including the frame.   If the work isn't framed, describe how it will be installed. 
The file size should be ~ 150 dpi.  The name of the jpgs should reflect the name of the artwork.   
 #3.  A description of the artwork including: title/name of celebratory event and persons featured if applicable, year, location, insurance value, size (height x width) and frame size (height x width x depth).  Please include special hanging instructions for your work if needed.
 
#4.  Format the email Subject: as follows: PRIDE_YourLastNameYourFirstName_YourCityYourState.  For example, PRIDE_DoeJane_StamfordCT
 
All submitted artwork must be available, framed and installation ready (D-rings, hanging hardware etc.). After selections are made,  substitutions will not be allowed and artwork not properly framed will not be exhibited.
